Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Call for Muslim Reservation Triggers Political Controversy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded to RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s statement advocating for “poora” (complete) reservation for Muslims, stating that the leader, currently out on bail in the fodder scam case, has revealed the intentions of the Congress and its allies to allocate the quota meant for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes to the country’s largest minority community.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at a rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar, pointed out that while the Congress remains silent, one of its allies within the INDI alliance has confirmed their intentions. Referring to the leader, who is currently out on bail in connection with the fodder scam case, Modi emphasized the ally’s call for reservation benefits for Muslims, suggesting that they should receive not just reservation but “complete” reservation.

PM Modi Accuses Congress and Allies of Threatening Reservation System

Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Congress and its allies in the INDIA bloc of attempting to revoke the reservation benefits provided by the Constitution to SC, ST, and OBC communities while advocating for “complete reservation for Muslims.” He pledged to safeguard India’s identity against what he termed as “pseudo-secularism,” vowing that any such attempts would not succeed as long as he was alive.

“Lalu Yadav advocated for ‘complete reservation for Muslims’,” he stated.

Lalu Yadav’s comment follows BJP leader Amit Shah’s accusation that the Congress granted reservation to Muslims at the expense of SCs, STs, and OBCs in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Reacting to Lalu Yadav’s statement, BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi remarked that PM Modi’s concerns about reservation were justified.

“The fears expressed by BJP and PM Modi have been proven true. The idea of Muslim reservation, as highlighted by Lalu Prasad Yadav, now seems to be materializing. It’s evident from his statement that they aim to provide reservation to Muslims by compromising the share of SCs, STs, and OBCs,” he added.
