On Monday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its initial list of 44 candidates for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. This list includes 15 candidates for the first phase, 10 for the second phase, and 19 for the third phase of polling.

Election Schedule and BJP Candidates
The Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly elections are set to take place in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1, with vote counting scheduled for October 4. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced candidates for several key constituencies: Arshid Bhat for Rajpora, Javed Ahmad Qadri for Shopian, Mohd. Rafiq Wani for Anantnag West, Adv. Syed Wazahat for Anantnag, Sushri Shagun Parihar for Kishtwar, and Gajay Singh Rana for Doda.

Additional BJP Candidates Announced
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also nominated Kuldeep Raj Dubey for Reasi, Rohit Dubey for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, and Chowdhary Abdul Ghani for Poonch Haveli. Other candidates include Pawan Gupta for Udhampur West, Dr. Devinder Kumar Maniyal for Ramgarh (SC), and Mohan Lal Bhagat for Akhnoor.

BJP Finalizes Candidates for J&K Elections
On Sunday evening, the BJP’s Central Election Committee convened to finalize the party’s candidates for the upcoming elections. In the previous assembly elections of 2014, when Jammu and Kashmir was still a full-fledged state, the BJP secured 25 seats. This time, the party is working diligently to counter the challenge posed by a reinvigorated Congress, which has formed an alliance with the National Conference.

BJP’s Stance and Electoral Details for J&K Polls
For the Jammu and Kashmir elections, the BJP has announced that it will not form alliances with any political parties. Instead, the party will support strong independent candidates in constituencies in the Kashmir valley where it will not field its own candidates. Of the 90 assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, 74 are designated for general seats, nine for Scheduled Tribes, and seven for Scheduled Castes. The Union Territory has 87.09 lakh eligible voters, with an equal distribution of males and females, as reported by the Election Commission.
