BJP to Investigate Nagpur MLC Poll Loss, Examine Mahayuti Allies’ Campaign Efforts

Maharashtra minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule announced that the BJP would investigate its defeat in the Nagpur Graduates’ constituency during the recent Legislative Council elections. The review will examine campaign coordination, voter outreach and possible shortcomings among Mahayuti alliance partners.

BJP to Investigate Nagpur MLC Defeat and Review Alliance Coordination

Bawankule, who led the BJP’s election campaign in Nagpur, accepted responsibility for the defeat. He said party leaders and workers had made extensive efforts to reach voters. However, he acknowledged possible campaign failures and promised a detailed review to identify the reasons behind the loss.

The BJP will examine whether Mahayuti partners supported alliance candidates as agreed. Bawankule said the party would avoid blaming individual allies before reviewing the facts. The alliance will investigate whether local leaders followed instructions from their respective party leaderships and honoured commitments made to coalition partners.

Bawankule Accepts Responsibility as Mahayuti Reviews Campaign Lapses

Bawankule cited the Amravati constituency to explain the alliance’s coordination challenges. He said BJP legislators and parliamentarians had campaigned for the alliance candidate after Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde requested support. However, he acknowledged that some areas lacked effective coordination. The three Mahayuti partners will discuss these concerns and identify leaders who may have acted against the alliance’s agreed strategy.

The Legislative Council elections covered five constituencies, with voting held on October 23 and results declared on October 28. The Congress won Nagpur Graduates’, while the NCP (SP) secured Pune Graduates’ and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Graduates’. The BJP won Pune Teachers’, and the Shiv Sena secured Amravati Teachers’. The BJP will now assess the results and review coordination among Mahayuti partners to address campaign shortcomings in future elections.
