The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to transfer Rs 600 to every student in Class 1 to 8 in government schools via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in order to provide them with free school uniforms, which will benefit approximately 5.25 lakh students. The money will be sent directly to the student or mother.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stated on Monday that the state government made this decision to reduce the financial burden on parents. He also stated that transferring the funds directly to the recipient will ensure transparency. He stated that the State Government is always aware of students’ needs and has made numerous decisions to benefit them.
Earlier, the students had to wait for the uniform because of the lengthy process involved in the distribution of the uniforms.
Sukhu said that the State Government is committed to providing better educational infrastructure to the children. Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding schools will be opened in a phased manner in all the assembly constituencies.
