Haryana: Men climb walls of Tauru exam centre to help students cheat in board exams

The day following the circulation of a video depicting individuals scaling the walls of a school in Tauru, where the Class 10 examination of the Board of School Education Haryana was taking place, the district education officer announced on Wednesday that the Board chairman has requested a report on the incident.

The incident took place on Tuesday at Chandrawati School in Tauru where many people climbed the walls of the school while the Class 10 Hindi exam under the Haryana Board was being held.

“Action will be taken against any erring official if their role in helping students cheat in the exams is found. There are CCTV cameras on the premises and this would also be checked. The chairman will decide if the exam needs to be nullified and the centre sealed,” Paramjeet Chahal, DEO, said.

Chahal said they have sought a police force ahead of the next exam. “The centre holds exams for Class 10 and today, an inspection was conducted at the centre after we were informed of the incident, but no exam was being held there,” he added.

On Wednesday, the police conducted inspections at various schools. Mukesh Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Tauru, reported that during their visit, a large crowd was observed at the premises of a Class 12 exam center at MSD School, Tauru. When the police attempted to disperse the crowd, a 20-year-old individual attempted to flee. The police apprehended the man and charged him under IPC section 188. An FIR has been filed at Tauru City police station. Mukesh Kumar emphasized that their aim was to ensure compliance with CrPC 144 and prevent any violations.

The district collector had imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) near exam centres in the Nuh district to deter unauthorised individuals from entering these venues, and to order the closure of photocopy shops near them.
