NEP Row Stalin Slams Pradhan, Lok Sabha Disrupted

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin strongly criticized Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for calling his government dishonest regarding the implementation of the PM SHRI scheme. During Lok Sabha proceedings, Pradhan accused the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government of changing its stance on the centrally sponsored scheme, which aims to strengthen schools run by central, state, or local bodies. He alleged that Tamil Nadu was “ruining” students’ futures by refusing to sign the required MoU aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Reacting sharply, Stalin condemned Pradhan’s remarks, asserting that his statements were misleading and politically motivated. Stalin reiterated that his government has consistently opposed the NEP and would not compromise on Tamil Nadu’s education policies.

Stalin Sharp Response on X

Reacting sharply, Stalin, in a post on X, condemned Pradhan’s arrogance, likening him to an arrogant king who had disrespected the people of Tamil Nadu and needed to be disciplined. He asserted that Pradhan should control his tongue. The remarks sparked uproar in the Lok Sabha, leading to a 30-minute adjournment as DMK MPs protested against the minister’s statement. Pradhan claimed that Tamil Nadu had initially agreed to the scheme but later reversed its decision, accusing the state of playing politics and misleading the public. He suggested that an unnamed “super CM” influenced the decision, causing the Tamil Nadu government to backtrack.

Pradhan Urges Tamil Nadu to Reconsider

With the deadline for signing the MoU approaching at the end of March, Pradhan urged the Tamil Nadu government to reconsider its stance. Meanwhile, the DMK continues to oppose the NEP, citing concerns over centralization and the impact on the state’s education system.In his post on X, MK Stalin accused the Centre of deception, alleging that it had failed to provide funds to Tamil Nadu. He also criticized Tamil Nadu MPs, calling them uncivilized.

DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran Refutes Pradhan’s Claims

Speaking to ANI at the Parliament complex, DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran refuted Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s claims, stating, Dharmendra Pradhan falsely claimed that the DMK government had agreed to the NEP. The DMK has never supported the NEP or the three-language policy.

Opposition to Three-Language Policy

Maran further questioned the rationale behind imposing a three-language policy in Tamil Nadu, arguing, Why should our students be required to learn three languages when students in North India study only one We are not against Hindi. If students want to learn it, they are free to do so, but it should not be mandatory.
