Reducing Percentile to Address Annual PG Medical Seat Vacancies

India has approximately 70,000 PG medical seats, with an annual vacancy of 2,000-2,500 seats due to lack of applicants. As per the government directive issued on Wednesday, new registration and preference selection for the third round of PG counseling will commence for candidates who have become eligible due to the percentile reduction.

The order encourages newly eligible candidates to register and participate in the third round of counseling. Candidates who have previously registered do not need to register again; however, they can modify their preferences. The MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) website will soon post a revised timetable for PG counseling rounds starting from the third round.

Despite the zero cut-off, NEET-PG remains significant as applicants will still be ranked according to their scores.
