Dharmendra Pradhan on CBSE Concerns

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan accepted responsibility for the problems in CBSE’s new on-screen marking (OSM) system. He assured students that the Board would address every complaint. The Minister also promised strict action against anyone responsible for irregularities.

CBSE introduced the OSM system for the first time this year. Under this method, evaluators checked scanned answer sheets digitally instead of using physical copies. However, several Class 12 students reported discrepancies in their marks. Some students claimed that the uploaded answer sheets did not match their handwriting.

Dharmendra Pradhan Reviews Evaluation and Technical Problems

Dharmendra Pradhan chaired a review meeting at the CBSE headquarters. Officials from the Ministry of Education, CBSE, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, and public sector banks attended the meeting.

According to the Minister, nearly 40 crore answer sheet pages were scanned under the new system. Around 17 lakh students appeared for the exams. Nearly 4 lakh students accessed about 11 lakh answer sheets through the portal.

Officials discussed issues such as server overload, login failures, and payment problems. A technical team from IIT Madras and other digital experts will review the portal system. Experts will work on improving server capacity, login management, and payment integration.

CBSE also linked payment gateways of four public sector banks with its portal. These banks include State Bank of India, Indian Bank, Bank of Baroda, and Canara Bank. The move aims to make the re-evaluation process smoother for students.

Meanwhile, Dharmendra Pradhan responded to criticism from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The Minister defended the digital evaluation process and said the government followed proper procurement rules. He assured the public that authorities would investigate every complaint. In addition, he urged political parties not to politicise the issue and stressed that reducing student stress should remain the top priority.
