Yuva Sena Workers Release Stray-Dogs on Nashik Official’s Table Over Dog Menace

A protest over the rising stray-dog menace in Nashik’s Niphad took an unusual turn when Yuva Sena workers brought two stray puppies into the Nagar Panchayat office and released them on the chief officer’s table. The protesters said they wanted to highlight the administration’s alleged failure to address repeated complaints about dog attacks and the growing fear among residents.

Protest Highlights Stray-Dog Concerns

Yuva Sena district chief Vikram Randhave led the demonstration and released the puppies on the table of Niphad Nagar Panchayat chief officer Dheeraj Bhamre. The protesters had carried the puppies in small sacks before releasing them inside the office. Randhave also placed a garland made from currency notes on the official’s table as part of the demonstration.

The protesters claimed that the stray-dog population had increased across Niphad and created problems for children, senior citizens, women and motorists. They alleged that several residents had suffered dog bites despite repeatedly approaching the civic administration. The group demanded immediate action to control the growing stray-dog population and improve public safety.

Activists Demand Action During Ganeshotsav

Randhave also linked the issue to the ongoing Ganeshotsav celebrations. He claimed that stray dogs had created fear among people visiting Ganesh mandals and demanded sterilisation drives and proper dog-catching measures. He criticised the administration for allegedly focusing on tendering procedures instead of addressing residents’ complaints and warned that activists could repeat the protest if officials failed to act.

A similar unusual protest took place last month in Madhya Pradesh’s Khandwa, where activists used a dog mask during a public hearing to raise concerns about alleged irregularities in the municipal corporation’s sterilisation programme. Officials assured the protesters that a committee would examine the allegations. The Niphad demonstration has once again brought the stray-dog issue into focus and highlighted residents’ demands for effective civic action.
