Bengaluru: Wife, Mother Kill Man, Say Police

Bengaluru police reported that a 37-year-old real estate businessman was killed by his wife and mother-in-law over alleged affairs and illegal dealings.

The two accused have been arrested.

Police discovered Loknath Singh’s body in an abandoned car in Chikkabanavara on Saturday. A distress call reported the incident at 5:30 PM.

Authorities arrested his wife and mother-in-law for the crime. North Bangalore DCP Saidul Adavath confirmed that investigations are ongoing.

Police investigations revealed the accused mixed sleeping pills in the victim’s food to make him drowsy before killing him.

They took him to a deserted area, slit his throat with a knife, and then fled the scene. Authorities linked the murder to the victim’s alleged extramarital affairs and illegal business activities.

Police stated that Loknath had been in a relationship with the woman for two years before marrying her in December. His family opposed the relationship due to their age difference, and neither family knew about the marriage.

Soon after the marriage, Loknath left his wife at her parents’ house, police said. Two weeks ago, her family discovered the marriage and also learned about Loknath’s alleged affairs and illegal dealings.

The couple’s relationship worsened due to constant fights, and they even considered divorce, police said. Loknath allegedly threatened his in-laws, leading his wife and mother-in-law to plan his murder. Police revealed Loknath was also under Bengaluru Central Crime Branch’s watch for a fraud case.
