Abhishek Ghosalkar of Uddhav Sena killed by Mauris Noronha

A viral video captured the incident unfolding at Mauris Noronha’s office in IC Colony, located in the northern suburb of Borivali (West), where Abhishek Ghosalkar sustained gunshot wounds to the abdomen and shoulder. The attack, broadcasted live on Facebook, occurred days after CCTV footage emerged showing a BJP MLA firing a gun inside a police station in the neighboring Thane district, sparking concerns about the state of law and order.

The Mumbai Crime Branch has taken over the investigation into the killing of the Uddhav Thackeray group leader. The incident occurred shortly after CCTV footage emerged showing a BJP MLA shooting at a leader from the Eknath Shinde faction inside a police station in Ulhasnagar.

Who Killed Abhishek Ghosalkar and Why?

Abhishek Ghosalkar sustained four gunshot wounds from Mauris Noronha, who used an illegal pistol. Noronha then shot himself once, according to a senior police official.

Abhishek Ghosalkar and Mauris Noronha had a “personal enmity.” However, a police official told PTI that the Facebook Live was organized to demonstrate their reconciliation for the betterment of the IC Colony area. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut accused Shinde of meeting Noronha at the chief minister’s official residence ‘Varsha’ four days prior and inviting him to join the Shinde-led Shiv Sena. Raut also called for the resignation of deputy chief minister and home minister Devendra Fadnavis. Former minister Aaditya Thackeray, who claimed to have met Abhishek Ghosalkar earlier in the evening, asserted that there was now a lack of law enforcement in Maharashtra.
