Police sources told that the woman lives with her family in Nalasopara, a township in Mumbai’s metro region. She allegedly inserted the stone and blade into her body to avoid being scolded and beaten. She feared her parents’ reaction to being raped by the auto-rickshaw driver.
According to the police, the woman and the auto-rickshaw driver went to Arnala Beach, 12 km from her home. They planned to spend the night there.
Since she lacked a valid ID, they couldn’t get a hotel room and spent the night on the beach. The police believe she was raped during that time. The auto-rickshaw driver then fled the crime scene.
Police sources said the woman managed to reach Nalasopara railway station. Fearing her return home and admitting the rape, she bought a surgical knife and inserted it into her vagina.
According to the cops she also pushed stones into her body.
Soon after, she felt pain and started bleeding. She contacted the local police, who filed a rape case.
The girl previously claimed to be an orphan living in Varanasi under her uncle’s care. She and the driver traveled to Mumbai on Sunday. The police said her father reported two rape complaints filed by her in 2023. These incidents occurred at Nirmal Nagar and Shivaji Nagar in Mumbai. The police also believe the woman may have mental health issues.
