Following an explosion late last night in Amritsar near the Golden Temple, the Punjab police have detained five persons. Around one in the morning today, a low-intensity explosion happened in Amritsar close to Heritage Street. This explosion marks the third in the past five days.
May 6 saw the first explosion, and May 14 saw the second. Nearly two kilometres separate the location of today’s low-intensity blast from Heritage Street, which is close to the Golden Temple and a well-known tourist destination in the city.
In order to better understand the occurrence, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Punjab Police have taken forensic samples from the bomb site.
Initial findings indicate that there was no triggering device employed in the explosion, according to sources.
The two explosions on Amritsar’s Heritage Street were caused by explosives that contained two cans of health beverages.
The explosion that happened on Monday left one person hurt. Police reported that it looked the explosive used in the explosion was kept in a container even though no detonator had been discovered.
According to the authorities, the explosive was shoddy manufactured and shrapnel was not employed. The explosion on May 6 left one person hurt and some buildings’ glass façade damaged.
