In the Mumbai district of Bhayander, two men were detained for reportedly intimidating and bullying a 13-year-old girl into changing her religion.
The girl’s mother said that Munnawar Mansoori (20) and Azeem Mansoori had been harassing her daughter since June 1 by following her and using vulgar language. She claimed that at about 8:30 p.m., Munnawar took her daughter to the roof of a building and tried to woo her into marrying him by presenting her with a chain, ring and burqa.The mother alleged that Munnawar threatened to shoot her daughter after the girl refused to obey him.
Later, the girl told her mother the entire story, and she lodged a complaint against both of the accused. In accordance with pertinent legal provisions, such as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), the police detained both individuals.
“Under the purview of the Bhayandar police station, a FIR has been register. According to the FIR, a young girl was threaten with conversion to another religion and subjected to harassment. According to POCSO and Section 354 of the IPC, the accused have been take into jail, according to DCP Jayant Bajbale.
“A dummy pistol that was use to threaten the girl has also been recover,” DCP Bajbale continued.
Investigation into the matter is continuing.
