Chief Minister’s Secretary Kiran Gitte said preliminary information suggests that the senior police officer may have died by suicide. Police have started collecting evidence and examining the office where Dhankar was found. Investigators are also recording statements and reviewing all available information to establish what happened before his death. Authorities have assured that the inquiry will follow every legal procedure and reveal the facts once the investigation is complete.

Senior doctor Dr. Pradip Bhowmik said hospital staff received Dhankar at around 12 pm without any detectable vital signs. Police Launch Detailed Probe, Await Post-Mortem Report

Responding to questions about visible injuries or signs of hanging, Dr. Bhowmik said the medical team’s priority was to save Dhankar’s life rather than assess physical evidence. He clarified that only the post-mortem examination can establish whether any external injuries or other findings contributed to the death. Doctors have transferred the body for forensic examination, and investigators are waiting for the medical report before drawing conclusions. Officials have stressed that scientific evidence will guide the investigation and help determine the exact cause of death.

Senior police officers quickly reached the Police Headquarters, secured the office premises, and began a detailed investigation into the incident. Forensic experts are expected to examine the scene while investigators continue gathering evidence and reviewing all relevant records. The police department has not yet issued a detailed official statement regarding the circumstances surrounding Dhankar’s death. The sudden demise of Tripura’s top police officer has deeply shocked officials and the public alike. Authorities have assured that they will share verified information after completing the investigation and receiving the post-mortem report.
