Thane Woman Abducts Ex-Husband Over Divorce Settlement Money

The Thane police registered a case on Saturday against a woman and her relatives for allegedly abducting her estranged husband over a financial dispute regarding their divorce settlement. The victim, a 44-year-old resident of Punjabi Colony in Ulhasnagar. Was reportedly taken by a group of men on June 20 while he was leaving his home to run some errands, according to news agency PTI. Authorities believe that the abduction was orchestrated at the request of his estranged wife.

Gang Forces Victim to Raise Divorce Compensation

The gang coerced the victim to raise the compensation amount for his ex-wife from ₹15 lakhs to ₹20 lakhs. When he informed them that he could not afford the additional payment. He was abducted and taken to a remote location. As stated by an official from the Central police station in Ulhasnagar.

Victim Escapes Captivity and Reports Kidnapping

The man was held captive in a rundown house until September 28, with two additional men assigned to prevent his escape. Throughout his ordeal, he faced continuous threats to his life if he did not agree to increase the compensation amount for his ex-wife. He eventually managed to break free from their control and filed a complaint with the police on Saturday. In response, the Thane police have initiated an investigation based on the victim’s report.

FIR Filed Against Estranged Wife and Accomplices for Multiple Offenses

An FIR has been filed against the victim’s wife, her brother, and four other associates under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The charges include Section 140(2) (kidnapping or abduction with intent to murder or for ransom). Section 351(2) (criminal intimidation), Section 352 (intentional insult aimed at provoking a breach of peace). Section 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), and Section 3(5) (common intention), according to police reports.
