White-Collar Threat: Four Doctors Arrested in Rapid Succession with Chemicals Weapons

In a startling development, authorities arrested four doctors across Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat within four days for their alleged involvement in terror activities. During the raids, police recovered rifles, pistols, ammonium nitrate, and ricin-formulating material, highlighting a disturbing trend of educated professionals turning to extremism.

Authorities said the suspects contacted international handlers from Pakistan and other countries and maintained links with banned organisations like ISIS, Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGUH). Investigators believe the individuals planned chemical and firearms-based attacks across multiple Indian cities.

Police arrested Dr. Adeel Ahmad Rather, a resident doctor at GMC Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir, after finding him in possession of an AK-47 rifle. They traced Rather from Srinagar to Saharanpur and apprehended him on November 6, noting his ties with JeM and AGUH.

Four doctors linked to explosives, ricin, and foreign handlers

Soon after, a joint operation by Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana Police led to the arrest of Dr. Muzamil Shakeel, a faculty member at Al Falah University in Faridabad. Officials recovered 360 kilograms of ammonium nitrate and detained a woman doctor, Shakeel’s colleague, with an assault rifle.

In Gujarat, ATS officers arrested Dr. Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed, a China-trained physician from Hyderabad, accused of preparing ricin and surveying crowded public areas for potential attacks. Weapons, ammunition, and chemical substances were seized from his possession. Officials warn that these arrests signal a worrying pattern of white-collar radicalisation, where educated professionals leverage their expertise for terror networks. Security agencies have intensified investigations to uncover links between these cases and dismantle this emerging ecosystem of professional extremism.
