Assistant inspector Nitin Ambhore of the Dighi police said according to the complainant, the suspect had been harassing his daughter for a year. “He said on Monday, around 8.30 pm, he noticed the man standing near their residential building and stalking the student,” Ambhore said.

The complainant’s two daughters and wife went downstairs to reprimand the man. “He said the suspect was in no mood to listen to them. So, they decided to take him to the police station. They forced him to sit in their car,” said the officer.

Suspect Wields Weapon

Ambhore said that on the way to the police station, the man suddenly pulled out a cutter and threatened to slit the student’s throat. “The complainant told us that he immediately stopped the car. When the complainant’s second daughter tried to save her sister, the suspect attacked her with the cutter. He also assaulted the complainant and his wife,” Ambhore said.

The officer said that the complainant and his wife sustained injuries near their throats, while the daughters both sustained deep cuts on their hands. “Seeing the commotion, some passersby nabbed the suspect and took him to the police station,” he said.

Ambhore added that the arrested man claimed he is an engineer. “We are verifying his details. We are also investigating whether any other person was involved in the attack,” said the officer.
