Video: 2 Dead, Multiple Injured in Seattle Food Festival Shooting

At least two people died, while five others suffered injuries during a shooting at Seattle’s food festival. Police reported the shooting near Seattle Center, located just one block from the city’s iconic Space Needle. Authorities have not confirmed whether officers detained any suspects following the deadly shooting at Seattle Center.

The Seattle Police Department said officers were investigating multiple shooting victims after receiving reports of gunfire at Seattle Center and urged people to avoid the area. The gunfire erupted around 6 p.m. while the Bite of Seattle festival was taking place at Seattle Center. The annual event featured hundreds of local food vendors, live music performances, and large crowds of visitors. Emergency responders transported the injured victims to Harborview Medical Centre for treatment, according to reports. The shooting created panic among festivalgoers, many of whom rushed to escape the crowded venue after hearing gunshots.

Witnesses Recall Chaos After Seattle Festival Shooting

A social media video captured gunfire erupting in the crowded area and showed the chaos that followed. Witness Estan Wakonabo, 25, said frightened attendees trampled one another after hearing gunshots during the festival. He described the scene as “pure chaos” before later returning to photograph the aftermath near Seattle Center. Wakonabo said he saw several gunshot victims lying on the ground, including one covered with yellow sheet. The annual Bite of Seattle festival began in 1982 and attracts approximately 350,000 visitors over three days.

The event celebrates food, drinks, music, and community while showcasing local vendors and businesses across Seattle. Authorities continued investigating the shooting while officials worked to determine what caused the deadly incident. Police urged members of the public to avoid Seattle Center while investigators gathered evidence and interviewed witnesses. Officials also asked witnesses and attendees with relevant information or footage to assist the ongoing investigation. The shooting shocked festivalgoers and raised concerns about security during large public gatherings across the city. Investigators reviewed available video footage and witness accounts while reconstructing events surrounding the deadly shooting.
