Pakistan: Mosque bombing; police officer dead

A bomb explosion in a mosque that was still being built in the Ali Masjid neighborhood of the Khyber district on Tuesday claimed the lives of two Station House Officers (SHOs) and injured a number of others.

Khyber is a district of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province’s Peshawar Division.
Initial investigations indicate that the incident was likely a suicide bombing.

According to the police, the deceased extra SHO was identified as Adnan Afridi.
It was discovered that the district Khyber Police had carried out an intelligence-based operation in response to information that two terrorists were present in the mosque in Jamrud that was still under construction. While the other terrorist escaped the explosion scene, one of the terrorists detonated himself.

However, ARY News reports that the security forces were able to capture him.
