Pakistan: Blast at political party meeting in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Pakistan blast: According to a story published on Sunday by Dawn, an explosion that occurred during a political party meeting in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region may have resulted in 35 fatalities and more than 80 injuries.

The Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F)-organized gathering was taking place in Khar, the tribal district’s seat.

Although investigations are ongoing, initial reports said it was a suicide bombing.Later, the police roped off the area.

Ambulances transporting the injured to hospitals were visible on television footage taken at the scene. Most of the injured victims were said to be in critical condition.

According to Bajaur District Emergency Officer Saad Khan, another victim of the blast was Maulana Ziaullah Jan, a well-known JUI-F figure in Khar. He added that the injured were being transported to Peshawar and Timergera, two local hospitals.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of JUI-F, asked that Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, and Azam Khan, the acting chief minister of the province, conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident. Additionally, he exhorted the party members to visit the hospital and give blood.

“JUI workers should maintain their composure, and the federal and provincial governments should give the injured the best care possible,” stated Fazl.

Azam Khan, the chief minister, denounced the explosion and asked the district administration for a report. The number of fatalities was confirmed by the governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Haji Ghulam Ali. He is also an important JUI-F member.

After the event, JUI-F leader Hafiz Hamdullah said he had to cancel a meeting. Even though he had been invited in a statement to Geo News.

“I strongly condemn the blast and want to give a message to the people behind it. This is not jihad but terrorism,” the JUI-F leader was quoted as saying, as he called the incident “an attack on humanity and Bajaur”.
