The Ahmedabad cyber crime unit has written to Malaysian and Indonesian governments along with Interpol, to look for two hacker groups ‘Dragon force Malaysia’ & ‘Hacktivist Indonesia’, who allegedly initiated a cyber war against India in the aftermath of the Nupur Sharma incident. According to the police, the groups attacked over 2000 websites post the incident.
“In the aftermath of Nupur Sharma incident, 2 hacker groups namely ‘Dragon force Malaysia’ & ‘Hacktivist Indonesia’ initiated a cyber war against India. They also appealed to Muslim hackers from across the world. They appealed for the same,” Amit Vasava, DCP, Cyber Crime, Ahmedabad said, news agency ANI reported.
Several cyber-attacks had taken place in the aftermath of the episode. In one of the cases, for instance, a Pakistan flag flashed on the screen during a live broadcast. It was broadcasted onf a news channel in Assam. The official websites of Thane Police and Andhra Pradesh Police were also among those that were hacked in the attacks.
The cyber criminals also reportedly circulated the expelled BJP spokesperson’s personal details. It included her address, Aadhaar card, and PAN card details besides other information. A massive row was triggered over Sharma’s alleged derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammed.
