Osman Hadi’s Kin Says Murder Was Part of Plan to Undermine National Elections

Sharif Omar Hadi, brother of slain activist Sharif Osman Hadi, spoke at Shahbagh’s National Museum. He accused government authorities directly, claiming, “You killed my brother and now manipulate elections using this issue.” Omar Hadi alleged a vested quarter in the administration orchestrated Osman Hadi’s murder deliberately. He added that authorities who fail justice delivery could face consequences in the future, he claimed. Abdullah Al Jaber, Member Secretary of Inqilab Moncho, reminded the government of a 30-working-day ultimatum. The ultimatum demanded identifying and arresting perpetrators responsible for Sharif Osman Hadi’s killing swiftly.

Sharif Osman Hadi, a student leader involved in last year’s July uprising, faced assassination on December 12. The Reports confirmed two motorcycle-borne assailants approached his vehicle and fired at his head directly. He was shot at close range while traveling in a battery-powered rickshaw in Dhaka’s Bijoynagar area. Doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital found severe brain stem damage and transferred him to Singapore urgently. Despite treatment, Hadi died on December 18, sparking protests demanding swift arrests and justice across the country. Demonstrators gathered at Dhaka’s Shahbagh intersection, demanding accountability, justice, and election security from authorities.
