Orlando Commissioner Regina Hill Arrested, Released on $40,000 Bond

The inquiry into Orlando Commissioner Regina Hill’s alleged abuse of her office and exploitation of an elderly resident for personal gain is still ongoing. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) arrested Orlando Commissioner Regina Hill earlier that day on allegations of three counts of elder abuse, two counts of fraud, mortgage fraud, and scheme to defraud. The FDLE then released Commissioner Hill on a $40,000 bail.

The accusations directed on Commissioner Hill include the mistreatment of an elderly citizen residing in her area. Hill is accuse of stealing thousands of dollars for his own benefit from the elderly victim’s savings.

Hill’s Alleged Actions Deemed a Betrayal of Community Trust

Evidence discovered by FDLE agents indicates that Hill used her connections to get a fictitious power of attorney over the victim. Vecchio, an investigator, said, “Agents found that Hill used her influence over the victim to fraudulently obtain a power of attorney.”

“Hill effectively betrayed the trust of her community by taking advantage of a 96-year-old elderly citizen,” said Lee Massie of the FDLE, expressing the gravity of the betrayal.

Subsequent inquiries reveal that Hill made important financial decisions with the power of attorney, such as buying a house in the victim’s name. In addition, Hill is charge with misusing the victim’s money to support an opulent lifestyle that includes hotel stays, automobile rentals, and pricey perfumes from upscale stores. The fraud is said to have involve more than $100,000 in total.

Although the allegations against Commissioner Hill are grave, it’s essential to uphold the presumption of innocence in the eyes of the law,” stated a spokesperson. The city of Orlando, recognizing the seriousness of the situation, emphasized its inability to discipline elected officials, deferring that authority to the Governor. Governor Ron DeSantis clarified his stance, indicating that he would only consider suspension upon indictment by a grand jury.
