CHANDIGARH Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar claimed on Tuesday that the Nuh violence appeared to be “part of a larger conspiracy” and that five people had already been slain there. He reviewed the situation in a high-level meeting with state Home Minister Anil Vij and local senior officials.
On Monday, two groups engaged in violent conflict in the Nuh area, which is largely populated by Muslims. According to the police, the altercation began when a group of young men stopped the “Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra” of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad near Khedla Mod in Nuh, and stones were thrown at the procession. Additionally, other police cars suffered damage.
The violence, according to the chief minister, was “well-planned” and “looks like part of a bigger conspiracy.”
There have been a total of five reported fatalities, including two police officers and three civilians.
