Noida techie death: Witness says cops pressured him, gave a ‘script’

A key eyewitness in the Noida techie death case has alleged that police pressured him to stay away from the media and public view.
Moninder Singh, a delivery executive and one of the main witnesses, said officers repeatedly called him to the police station after the incident.

Speaking to HT on Tuesday, Singh said police officials instructed him to disappear for five to ten days and warned him against speaking to journalists.
He further alleged that officers forced him to record another video statement after giving him a prepared script.

According to Singh, police also made him sit in a park near the police station for more than four and a half hours, which added to the pressure.
He said the repeated questioning and restrictions left him feeling intimidated and helpless.

Witness claims coercion and controlled statements

Singh claimed that police increased the pressure when he refused to follow their instructions and tried to share his account independently.
He alleged that officers closely monitored his movements and discouraged any interaction with the media during that period.

Meanwhile, public outrage has continued to grow over the death of Yuvraj Mehta, a 27-year-old software engineer.
He died after his car plunged into a rainwater-filled excavation pit in Sector 150 of Greater Noida.

Civic negligence and rescue delay under focus

The pit, allegedly dug for a building’s basement on a vacant plot, measured more than 20 feet deep, with some estimates placing it close to 50 feet.
Despite the danger, authorities failed to install barricades, warning signs, or reflective markers around the site.

Moreover, residents and civic activists criticised officials for the delay in rescue efforts, saying it worsened the outcome.
As the controversy deepens, Singh’s allegations have added fresh questions about the conduct of the police.

However, the police have not yet issued a detailed response to these claims, while demands for a transparent and independent investigation continue to gain momentum.
