A disturbing case has emerged from Sangli district in Maharashtra, where a 27-year-old woman allegedly murdered her 53-year-old husband just 15 days after their wedding. The incident took place around 12:30 am on Wednesday in Kupwad tehsil, according to police officials.
Dispute Over Consummation
The deceased, Anil Lokhande, had reportedly been urging his wife to consummate their recent marriage, which led to repeated quarrels. Police said that on the night of the incident, the argument escalated and, in a fit of rage, the woman—identified as Radhika—allegedly attacked her husband with an axe while he was asleep.
Background of the Couple
Lokhande had lost his first wife to cancer and this was his second marriage. The couple had been living in Sangli’s Kupwad tehsil since their wedding two weeks ago.
Police from the Kupwad MIDC station arrested Radhika and booked her under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
Similar Case in Indore Still Making Ripples
This shocking case follows closely on the heels of another high-profile murder involving Indore-based transport businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, who was allegedly killed by his wife Sonam during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. Police suspect Sonam conspired with her alleged lover to carry out the murder. So far, Sonam and four others have been arrested in connection with that case.
