A terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district claimed the life of a non-local migrant worker and left another seriously injured on Friday evening. The attackers opened fire on the workers at a brick kiln in the Kellam area before fleeing the scene. Jammu and Kashmir Police confirmed the incident and immediately launched a search operation. Security forces cordoned off the area to trace the terrorists. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Security Forces Launch Massive Search Operation After Kulgam Attack
Officials said the terrorists targeted the labourers while they were working at the brick kiln. Both victims sustained gunshot injuries during the assault. One worker died from his injuries before he could be shifted to a hospital for treatment. Medical teams referred the injured worker to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital in Anantnag for advanced care. His condition is being closely monitored by doctors.
Following the attack, security personnel intensified search operations across the area to locate those responsible. Police and other security agencies sealed the surrounding locations and carried out extensive combing operations. Investigators are collecting evidence and questioning witnesses to establish the sequence of events. Officials have not yet disclosed the identities of the attackers. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had strongly condemned the earlier killing of Head Constable Ashiq Hussain, who lost his life in the line of duty. He expressed condolences to the officer’s family and praised his sacrifice for the nation. Security agencies remain on high alert following the recent attacks. Officials have assured that every effort is being made to identify and apprehend those involved. The investigation into the Kulgam attack is ongoing.
