On April 8, police arrested 25-year-old Akash Sharma for allegedly pretending to drink alcohol and eat eggs inside a Delhi Metro train. Sharma, who holds an MCom degree from Delhi University, recorded the act himself on March 23 around 10 pm while traveling on the Pink Line from Welcome to Karkardooma Court station. He intended to post the video on social media to gain popularity.

Sharma faked drinking in metro, violating DMRC conduct rules
Sharma used soft drinks to mimic alcohol consumption and misled onlookers into believing he was drinking liquor. He admitted that he staged the act to attract attention online. The police identified his actions as a violation of Section 59 of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Act, which prohibits inappropriate behavior in the metro.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro) Hareshwar Swami confirmed that the authorities took legal action against Sharma. Amar Dev, the senior station manager at Karkardooma Metro station, filed the complaint. After reviewing the video, police launched an investigation to track down the man responsible.

Police traced Sharma in Burari with DMRC and CISF help
Officers located and arrested Sharma in Burari, where he lives in a rented house with his parents and younger brother. DMRC staff, CISF personnel, and house-keeping workers helped the police during the search. Police also circulated the viral video in WhatsApp groups to identify Sharma.
After his arrest, police released a video showing Sharma admitting to his actions. Authorities emphasized that such stunts disrupt public order and warned that they will not tolerate any behavior that undermines safety and discipline in the metro.
