In Meerut an FIR has been registered against the principal and yoga instructor of a government-run Army Public School. In Meerut Cantonment, following a court order from the Chief Judicial Magistrate. The case revolves around a class 7 student who allegedly lost his vision. After being slapped by the school’s yoga instructor.

The complaint was filed by the student’s mother, Indu Devi, who claimed her son had been dealing with a pre-existing retinal problem. According to her, the boy already had very low vision, and the incident in question exacerbated his condition. Devi alleged that during a school session, the yoga instructor, identified as Daksh, slapped her son with such force that it caused further damage to his retina, resulting in total blindness.

School Faces Scrutiny as FIR Filed
According to sources, the incident has sparked outrage, with many questioning the accountability of the school’s administration. Indu Devi explained that her son had been struggling with vision problems for some time and had been undergoing treatment. She alleged that despite being aware of the boy’s condition, the school staff failed to take necessary precautions, leading to the tragic outcome.

The FIR was lodged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after a detailed court hearing, which directed the police to take action. Both the school’s principal and the yoga instructor are now facing charges of negligence and physical assault. Meanwhile, investigations are underway to gather more evidence and testimonies from those present at the time of the altercation. The case has drawn attention to the responsibilities schools have in ensuring student safety and preventing such incidents.
