A man died in a powerful explosion while attempting to retrieve an explosive device in Punjab, triggering alarm among local authorities. Police confirmed that the incident occurred in a border area where the man reportedly discovered a suspicious object, which later detonated as he tried to handle it.
Investigators reached the site within minutes and began collecting forensic evidence. They recovered remnants of the explosive, including electronic circuitry, which hinted at a possible sophisticated design. The police, while not ruling out local miscreants, have openly suspected an ISI angle behind the incident due to the proximity to the Pakistan border and the nature of the device.

Senior police officials revealed that the explosive resembled devices previously used in cross-border smuggling and sabotage attempts. “We have launched a high-level probe. The design and components point toward a trained hand. We suspect ISI-backed operatives may have planted it,” said a senior official.
Security agencies have increased surveillance in nearby areas and initiated a search operation to track any accomplices. They are also checking recent drone activity across the border for possible delivery of the device.
Meanwhile, the man’s family has identified him as a local farmer. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether he had any criminal connections or unknowingly fell victim to a planted device. Officials assured that they would leave no stone unturned in the investigation.
