Rajasthan Tense After Karni Sena Leader Shot, Killers Identified

The perpetrator fired multiple shots at him from extremely close range within his residence in Jaipur,while they were sharing tea. Rajasthan Police has identified the two assailants responsible for the killing of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, the leader of the right-wing organization Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena. The perpetrators fatally shot him yesterday at his residence in Jaipur while sharing tea, firing multiple rounds at point-blank range.

The police have formed multiple teams to find the accused and have announced a reward of ₹ 5 lakh each for any information that can help them arrest the accused.

The Director-General of Police, Umesh Mishra, has established a special-investigation-team(SIT) to examine the murder,causing heightened tensions in the state. Following the fatal shooting of the Rajput-leader in his residence,his supporters have called for a statewide strike in Rajasthan today.

Supporters of the deceased leader obstructed the Shipra Path road near the hospital, urging the immediate arrest of the perpetrators. Demonstrations also broke out in Churu, Udaipur, Alwar, and Jodhpur districts, in addition to Jaipur.

The victim had a criminal record in the Gogameri police station in Rajasthan and had around 30cases filed against him. He was acquitted in several cases.

Rohit Godara, a gangster closely associated with the gangs of Goldie Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi, has taken responsibility for the murder in a Facebook post. Rohit Godara earlier threatened Sukhdev Godara and the Rajpur leader had filed a complaint against the gangster,police sources told NDTV.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and several states in the country are actively pursuing the wanted criminal Brar, a Canada-based gangster, for his involvement in the murder of Punjabi singer Siddhu Moosewala.

Gunmen attacked Gogamedi and two of his associates, causing them to sustain bullet injuries. They quickly transported the injured to a hospital, where doctors pronounced Gogamedi dead. Gogamedi’s aides, in self-defense, shot and killed one of the attackers during a gunfight, according to the police.
