A shocking murder in Kanpur has revealed an alleged conspiracy involving a wealthy businessman’s daughter-in-law. Sixty-three-year-old businessman Vineet Minocha was stabbed 26 times inside his home. Police allege that his daughter-in-law Shalu Minocha planned the murder and remained in contact with the attackers. At the time, Shalu was reportedly partying with friends at Cosmozin Lounge. She was seen dancing to the Hindi song ‘Tum To Dhokhebaaz Ho’ while the murder was allegedly taking place at home. Police are now examining CCTV footage, call records and conversations between the suspects. They suspect the party may have been part of an attempt to create an alibi.

The Party That Raised Police Suspicion
The investigation initially led police to Vishal, a former employee of the Minocha family, and his associate Raj Kishore. Both men were arrested after an encounter with the police. During questioning, Vishal allegedly revealed Shalu’s involvement in the conspiracy. According to police, Shalu had offered him Rs 6 lakh to kill her father-in-law. Investigators allege that she also provided a duplicate key to the house. She reportedly paid Rs 2 lakh in advance and promised to pay the remaining amount later. Police further claim that Shalu stayed connected with the attackers over the phone and guided them during the murder.
According to the investigation, Shalu’s alleged motive was linked to repeated disputes with her father-in-law. Police say she was upset over restrictions on her lifestyle and late-night outings. She allegedly claimed that Vineet closely monitored activities inside the house through CCTV cameras. She also reportedly objected to being questioned about returning home late. Despite the family’s wealth, Shalu allegedly told police that she had limited control over household expenses. She claimed that she sometimes had to ask Vineet for money for even small requirements. A major argument reportedly took place after she returned home late on July 28. Police believe that incident became a turning point in the alleged conspiracy.

CCTV and Phone Records Under Scanner
The alleged murder plan was finalised shortly before the incident. Police say Shalu called Vishal to the house on Friday under a pretext and discussed the killing. The following day, she reportedly left for a party with her husband and their child. Vishal and Kishore then allegedly arrived at the family’s apartment. Shalu is accused of helping them enter by telling the security guard that they had come to deliver medicines. The attackers initially planned to suffocate Vineet and make the death appear natural. However, the plan allegedly changed after they attacked him with a knife. Vineet suffered 26 stab wounds and was left bleeding inside the bedroom.
When Shalu and her husband returned home around 3 am, they allegedly found Vineet lying in a pool of blood. Shalu initially tried to distance herself from the crime, according to police. Investigators later claimed that she admitted her alleged role during questioning. The police are now working to establish the complete sequence of events. CCTV footage, phone records and conversations are being examined to verify the allegations. The investigation will also determine exactly how much Shalu knew about the attack and what instructions she allegedly gave the killers. The case has drawn attention because the murder allegedly unfolded while the accused daughter-in-law was partying nearby.
