Israeli Airstrike Hits Central Beirut After Nearly a Year of Conflict

On September 29, 2024, Israel launched strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen. Marking a response to recent attacks by the militant group. His death marks a significant loss for the group, as he is the seventh senior Hezbollah leader to be killed in Israeli strikes within just over a week. Among those killed are founding members of the organization who had managed to evade death or capture for decades. In addition, Israel has continued its operations against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. Hezbollah has confirmed the death of Nabil Kaouk—the deputy head of its Central Council, who was killed on September 28, 2024.

Hezbollah also reported that another senior commander, Ali Karaki, was killed. In the same strike that took the life of Nabil Kaouk. According to Israeli sources, at least 20 additional Hezbollah militants were killed in these recent operations. Which included a member responsible for the security of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

Over 1,030 Casualties from Israeli Airstrikes

The situation in Lebanon has escalated dramatically, with the Lebanese health ministry reporting at least 105 casualties nationwide due to airstrikes on Sunday alone. This is part of a broader wave of Israeli airstrikes that have targeted various locations throughout Lebanon, resulting in over 1,030 deaths in less than two weeks. Among the deceased are 156 women and 87 children, highlighting the heavy toll the ongoing conflict is taking on the civilian population.

As tensions rise in the region, the repercussions of these strikes and the ongoing military actions continue to unfold, leading to growing concerns over the humanitarian impact on Lebanon’s civilians amid the conflict.
