An IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Delhi was diverted to Ahmedabad Tuesday night after a bomb threat turned out to be a hoax.
The crew safely evacuated the aircraft, carrying about 200 passengers, and found no suspicious items. This is the 12th incident in two days.
Officials said an unidentified person tweeted a threat shortly after takeoff from Mumbai. The pilots, alerted by Air Traffic Control, chose to land at Ahmedabad.
Security agencies isolated the aircraft for an overnight search and found nothing suspicious. It resumed its flight to Delhi at 8 am Wednesday.
IndiGo stated that it redirected flight 6E 651 to Ahmedabad due to a “security alert.” The airline apologized for the inconvenience and assured safety for passengers and crew.

Bomb threats on flight
This incident adds to a string of hoax bomb threats targeting flights. On Wednesday, an Akasa Air flight from New Delhi to Bengaluru returned after a bomb threat.
On Monday, three international flights from Mumbai faced similar threats, leading to diversions and delays.
In response to these incidents, the central government has opted to double the number of sky marshals on flights from all airports nationwide.
A senior official from the Ministry of Home Affairs confirmed that they decided to double Air marshals after assessing the growing threat and consulting intelligence agencies.
Sky marshals are armed security officers in plainclothes who travel with passengers on flights.
