Delhi Police arrests 3 men for duping Dwarka woman of Rs 5.5 lakh in cyber fraud

Delhi Police arrested three men from Noida on Tuesday for allegedly cheating a woman from Dwarka of ₹5.5 lakh through an investment scam. Delhi Police identified the accused as 28-year-old Piyush Bala, 32-year-old Bharath G Poojary and 24-year-old Suraj Kumar. Investigators said the accused contacted the woman after she saw a social media advertisement promising high returns from share market investments. They later added her to an online group that promoted similar investment opportunities. According to police, the woman transferred ₹3 lakh on July 16 and another ₹2.5 lakh on July 19.Delhi She later realised that the investment scheme was fraudulent and approached the police. Officers traced the suspects to a residential society in Sector 137, Noida, where they conducted a raid and arrested all three men.

Police recover phones, SIM cards and banking documents

During the raid in Noida, Delhi Police recovered a large quantity of mobile phones, SIM cards and banking material from the accused. Officials seized 40 mobile phones, 146 SIM cards, 86 debit cards, three laptops, 28 cheque books and 18 passbooks. Police also recovered three passports, ₹1.09 lakh in cash and other digital and financial documents. Investigators said the recovered material could help them identify additional people involved in the alleged cyber fraud network. Police also found links between some of the recovered bank accounts and six complaints registered in Delhi, Kerala, Maharashtra and Karnataka. Those complaints reportedly involve transactions worth around ₹4 lakh. Officers are examining the financial records and digital evidence to determine the wider network behind the fraud. Police suspect the accused used multiple bank accounts, SIM cards and digital devices to receive and move money from victims.

Farmers protesting over the delayed start of paddy procurement clashed with police in Shahabad, Kurukshetra, on Tuesday. The protesting farmers demanded that the government begin procurement operations without further delay. Police placed barricades along the route to prevent the farmers from moving ahead with their march. When the protesters attempted to cross the barricades, police used water cannons to disperse the crowd. Farmers had already announced the protest over concerns about delays in government procurement of paddy. The issue has affected farmers preparing to sell their produce during the procurement season. The confrontation created tension in the area as protesters continued to press their demands. Authorities monitored the situation and maintained security around the protest site. Farmers have called for timely procurement arrangements so that they can sell their harvested paddy without facing additional difficulties.

Supreme Court seeks Centre’s response on Vande Mataram plea

The Supreme Court has sought a response from the Centre on a petition filed by Carnatic vocalist T M Krishna concerning rules related to the singing of Vande Mataram. Krishna challenged the requirement that mandates the singing of six stanzas of the national song. The petition has brought the issue before the country’s highest court, which will now consider the Centre’s position. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay expanded the state’s breakfast scheme for school students on Tuesday. He launched the programme at a government middle school in Thiruvanmiyur and served food to students before joining them for a meal. He also visited classrooms and interacted with students. Officials said the expanded programme will benefit around 15.30 lakh additional students studying in 15,454 government and state-aided schools across Tamil Nadu.

A fire at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in Telangana’s Adilabad district killed three infants late Monday night. According to reports, the fire started around 11:50 pm. Firefighters reached the hospital and brought the blaze under control. Staff and emergency teams rescued 28 children from the affected ward. Authorities have not yet determined what caused the fire and have started an investigation. Meanwhile, a separate road accident in Greater Noida claimed the life of a 40-year-old scooter rider. Police said a speeding Mahindra Thar hit the scooter on September 21 in the Bisrakh police station area. The rider, identified as Neeraj from Chipiyana, died during treatment after sustaining serious injuries. His wife also suffered injuries and remains in hospital. Police impounded the vehicle and launched efforts to locate the driver, who fled the scene.
