A 60-year-old widow went missing after leaving home to collect fodder for her cattle, and attackers later murdered her and buried her in a field in Gujarat. According to local authorities, the accused carried out the crime as a pre-planned robbery to loot jewellery worth ₹4.40 lakh.
CCTV Trail Leads to Gujarat Woman’s Murder
The victim, Shardaben Thakor, lived in Indrad village in Mehsana district. She stepped out on the morning of March 20 to cut grass from nearby fields but did not return home by evening. Worried about her safety, her son Govindji Baldevji Thakor began searching for her. When their efforts failed, the family filed a missing person’s complaint at the local police station.The investigation took a crucial turn with the help of CCTV footage from a nearby private company. The footage showed Shardaben heading toward a property called “Savita Farm,” but there was no record of her leaving the premises.

Buried Body Found, Jewellery Looted; Suspects Traced
Following this lead, police, along with family members, searched the farm. They noticed recently disturbed soil in a lemon orchard. On digging about a foot deep, they discovered Shardaben’s body. Police said she had been attacked from behind with a heavy blunt object. The accused allegedly buried the weapons—an axe and a sickle—near the spot to conceal evidence. The accused stole her gold bangles, earrings, and silver anklets worth ₹4.40 lakh before dumping her body in the pit. Police have registered a case of murder and robbery. Officials said they have identified several suspects and are questioning those who had access to Savita Farm. Investigators have not made any arrests so far, but they believe they are close to identifying the “unknown persons” named in the FIR.
