A shocking case from Gujarat’s Kheda district has turned a suspected suicide into an alleged murder investigation. Police suspect that a husband and his family members killed a pregnant woman and staged her death as suicide. The victim, Arunaben Sodha, was 13 weeks pregnant when she died. Her family members raised suspicions about the circumstances surrounding her death. Police are now investigating the alleged conspiracy and the evidence recovered during the probe.

Pregnant Woman Allegedly Pleaded for Medical Help
The incident came to light on the morning of October 17. Police received information that Arunaben had allegedly died by suicide at her residence in the Mahuda area of Kheda. However, her family questioned the circumstances of her death. Investigators found that Arunaben had suffered severe abdominal pain on the previous night. She repeatedly pleaded with her husband, Mitul, to take her to a doctor. However, he allegedly remained occupied with his phone instead of arranging medical assistance for his pregnant wife.
According to the police investigation, the dispute escalated when Arunaben reportedly said she would rather die. Investigators allege that Mitul then searched Google to find out whether a husband could face legal consequences if his wife died by suicide. Police suspect that this search formed part of the events leading to the alleged murder. Investigators further allege that Mitul and his family members planned to kill Arunaben using liquid nano urea. The motive and the sequence of events remain subject to the ongoing investigation.

In-Laws Allegedly Helped Carry Out the Crime
Police allege that Mitul’s mother and sister restrained Arunaben while he forced the chemical into her mouth. Investigators also claim that cloth was used to silence her screams. According to the findings reported by police, Arunaben and her unborn child died following the incident. The accused allegedly attempted to disguise the crime by hanging her body from a window with a nylon rope. This arrangement was reportedly intended to make the death appear to be a suicide and mislead investigators.
Medical findings reportedly contradicted the suspected suicide narrative. A panel of doctors examined Arunaben’s body during the post-mortem. Investigators said the ligature marks on her neck appeared to have been inflicted after her death. Medical analysis also reportedly detected traces of a toxic chemical in her system. Police said the findings indicated that chemical ingestion had caused severe internal damage and respiratory failure. These findings, along with technical surveillance and cyber analysis, helped investigators develop their murder theory.
