A 38-year-old Goa businessman was allegedly killed after a dispute with a beach shack worker over bench placement at Arambol beach on Sunday evening. One suspect has been arrested, according to police.The deceased, Amar Bandekar, a businessman from Arambol, was killed after an argument with a beach shack worker. He had asked staff to move a bench blocking his path during his evening walk on Sunday.

North Goa SP Confirms Arrest in Beach Altercation Death, Investigation Ongoing
North Goa SP Akshat Kaushal stated, “We have arrested one person. Initial investigation shows the argument escalated into a fistfight, resulting in one person’s death. We are investigating the circumstances and currently, only one person is involved. If the investigation reveals more involvement, further action will be taken.”

Locals Demand Justice After Victim Declared Dead Following Beach Altercation
The victim was taken to a health center in Tuem, where he was declared dead on arrival. Later that night, locals gathered outside Mandrem police station, demanding action against the beach shack operators and justice for the victim’s family.

Local Resident Blames Authorities for Death, Demands Accountability
Devendra Prabhudesai, a local resident, told the media, “He [Bandekar] used to regularly go for walks on the beach. In the evening, when he saw some benches blocking the way, he removed one and the repercussion was his death. Who is responsible for this death? Law and order has just collapsed and the government does not seem to be bothered about it. We have met the police inspector and he has assured us that a thorough investigation will be done and no one will be let off.”
