Police reported

Police sources reported that a few people crossed the buffer zone and opened fire in the Meitei areas.

The buffer zone, guarded by central forces, is located more than 2 km ahead of Kwakta area in Bishnupur district.

Fresh violence erupted in the district two days after clashes between armed forces and Meitei community protesters, causing 17 injuries.

The incident prompted authorities in Imphal East and Imphal West to withdraw the previously announced curfew relaxations and impose restrictions during the day as a precautionary measure.

In response to the protests, armed forces and Manipur Police used tear gas shells. It was used to disperse the demonstrators in the Kangvai and Phougakchao areas of the district.

The conflict erupted when Meitei women attempted to cross a barricaded zone in the district but were stopped by the Assam Rifles and the Rapid Action Force (RAF). This leads to stone-pelting and clashes between the community and armed forces.
