4 Arrested for Attempted Molestation of Woman at Bengaluru Pub

Four individuals were arrested on charges of allegedly attempting molestation of a 22-year-old woman at a pub on August 3, according to a police officer on Tuesday. The officer identified the accused as N Vinay (33) and BM Mahesh (27) from Nehru Nagar in Puttur, along with K R Pritesh (34) and NK Nitesh (33) from Padnur in Puttur taluk.

Molestation Details from Police Report

According to the complaint, Pandeshwar police inspector B Gururaj stated that the incident allegedly occurred around 10:30 PM on August 3, while the woman was alone, as her friend had gone to the washroom of the pub. One of the accused allegedly touched her inappropriately, and when she objected, the four accused reportedly laughed at her. When her friend returned and confronted the accused about their behavior. They allegedly attempted to attack with a beer bottle and hurled verbal abuse, the woman reported.

Police Action and Charges

“We received the complaint from the victim on the same night. Based on the complaint, we arrested all four accused on August 4,” the officer said. “They have been charged under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 79 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 3(5) (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).”

Court Proceedings and Custody

He noted that the accused were presented before the jurisdictional magistrate on Sunday. “The primary accused, Vinay, was remanded to judicial custody, while the other three were granted bail,” he added.
