In a shocking incident, a retired army officer allegedly killed his wife, dismembered her body, boiled the parts in a pressure cooker, and later disposed of the remains in a lake in Hyderabad Jillelaguda area, according to police reports on Thursday.
Incident Uncovered in Hyderabad Meerpet Police Station Jurisdiction
The incident occurred within the Meerpet police station in jurisdiction and was uncovered after the victim’s mother filed a missing person complaint. Following the investigation, the accused, Gurumurthy, was arrested. The victim was identified as 35-year-old Puttavenkata Madhavi.
The man and Madhavi lived in Jillelaguda for five years with their two children.
Gurumurthy, during interrogation, admitted to committing the crime.
The police started an investigation into the matter and are collecting additional evidence.

Meerpet Inspector Nagaraju said that the husband, now in custody, claimed he disposed of the remains in a lake after boiling them and making them as powder. His claims are being verified.
Nagaraju said that the couple had been together for over 10 years and belonged to Andhra Pradesh’s Prakasam district. Gurumurthy is a retired army personnel who is currently employed as a security guard in Kanchanbagh.
Upset with the quarrel, Madhavi left home at around noon without informing anyone and did not return. Their neighbours and relatives searched her but she was nowhere to be found, she said in her complaint.
According to the police, the accused told them that he killed his wife on sudden provocation when she demanded to go to her native place in Nandyal.
While the police are investigating the accuracy of his claims, the wife’s body has yet to be recovered.
