ED Vacates Farmhouse, Court Order Awaited

Signboards of the Enforcement Directorate still dot the road leading to the 2.5-acre farmhouse in South Delhi’s Rajokri, which served as the agency’s Gurugram zonal office for almost three years. Now, the property lies sealed. A handwritten notice affixed to the gate informs visitors that the office has been relocated to a new address near Sahara Mall on M G Road, Gurugram.

About two months ago, the agency packed up and moved out of the farmhouse, ending a peculiar legal situation — the use of a prime property worth over Rs 100 crore as a zonal office and training centre by the very agency investigating financial fraud allegations against the company that owned it.

ED Used Seized Farmhouse Amid Legal Dispute

On October 4, 2024, reports revealed that the ED continued to occupy the “confiscated” property even though the Union Bank of India had challenged its attachment and confiscation in court, describing it as “proceeds of crime.” The ED converted the spacious bedrooms into office spaces for senior officers, set up a large training unit in the living room, and built makeshift lock-ups. The agency also repurposed the indoor swimming pool as a storage space for discarded furniture. In total, around 100 staff members operated from the premises for almost three years.

At the time, ED officers had indicated that the government would soon relocate their offices to Gurugram, while the Rajokri farmhouse would continue to house the training centre. However, the agency eventually chose to vacate the entire property.
