Delhi Teen Allegedly Gang-Raped and Killed; Body Found Days Later

A 17-year-old girl was found dead in Northwest Delhi Swaroop Nagar earlier this week. Police said the victim allegedly faced sexual assault before the accused stabbed her and abandoned her body in an open field. The incident came to light on September 13 after police received information about a body lying in farm fields near Kushak Road. The severe decomposition initially made it difficult for forensic teams to determine the victim’s gender. Police identified four accused in connection with the case. The group includes three juveniles aged between 16 and 17 years. Police identified the fourth accused as Shivam alias Sudama. Investigators said the victim and accused knew each other. According to police, the suspects allegedly drank together inside a tempo before the crime took place. The investigation continues as authorities examine the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death.

Delhi: CCTV Analysis Helps Investigators Trace Suspicious Tempo

Police analysed footage from more than 50 CCTV cameras during their investigation. Investigators noticed a tempo moving suspiciously near the area around the time of the incident. However, darkness and poor visibility prevented police from identifying its registration number initially. Officers continued examining available footage and eventually traced the vehicle. Police found the tempo parked in Khadda Colony. Investigators then detained and questioned its driver in detail. During interrogation, police reportedly obtained information that helped them identify the other suspects. Officers subsequently took three juveniles and Shivam alias Sudama into custody. Police said the CCTV analysis played an important role in connecting the vehicle with the crime. Investigators are now examining additional evidence to establish the sequence of events. They are also checking whether any other person participated in the alleged offence.

Investigators recovered two knives that police suspect the accused used during the murder. Officers also recovered blood-stained clothes allegedly worn by the suspects at the time of the crime. Police said the evidence could help forensic teams establish links between the accused and the victim. Authorities are examining the recovered material as part of the ongoing investigation. According to police, the suspects allegedly transported the girl in the tempo before abandoning her in the open field. Some parts of the victim’s body had reportedly been eaten by stray dogs. Police also found one of her hands separated from the rest of the body at the location. The condition of the remains complicated the initial forensic examination. Investigators have continued collecting evidence from the crime scene and surrounding areas. Forensic teams are expected to examine the recovered material and other available evidence as the investigation progresses.

Family Had Not Reported the Teen Missing

Police said the girl’s family had not reported her missing before authorities discovered her body. According to investigators, family members told police that she would sometimes leave home and return after several days. Police are examining this information while reconstructing the teenager’s movements before her death. Investigators are also trying to establish when and where she met the accused. Police said the victim and the suspects knew each other, which has become an important part of the investigation. The circumstances inside the tempo are also under examination. Officers are checking CCTV footage and other evidence to determine the route taken by the vehicle. Investigators are questioning the accused separately to verify their statements. Police are also examining whether additional evidence or witnesses could provide information about the events preceding the teenager’s death.

Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The investigation remains underway, with police examining the alleged sexual assault and murder. Three of the accused are minors between 16 and 17 years old, while Shivam alias Sudama is the fourth accused named by police. Investigators are examining the evidence recovered from the tempo, crime scene and suspects. Police are also probing whether anyone else had a role in the incident. The recovered knives, blood-stained clothing and CCTV footage form important parts of the investigation. Authorities will continue questioning the accused and analysing forensic evidence before establishing the complete sequence of events. The case has drawn attention to the investigation of crimes involving minors and the protection of children under law.
