A shocking murder case has surfaced from Bihar, where police arrested a woman, her boyfriend, and an alleged contract killer for the murder of her husband, Dev Kumar Gunjan. Investigators said the accused planned the crime together and executed it while Gunjan was travelling on a train. Police believe the murder was the result of a conspiracy linked to the woman’s relationship with another man. The case has sparked widespread attention due to its calculated nature.
Investigation Reveals Murder Plot Over Alleged Extramarital Relationship
According to police, Gunjan worked as a technician in the Bihar Electricity Department and was posted in Jamui. On June 11, he boarded a train to visit his wife, Samita Kumari, who was serving as a Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) in Supaul. During the journey, an unidentified assailant allegedly shot him near Badla Ghat in Khagaria district. Gunjan later succumbed to his injuries, prompting a detailed investigation by the railway police.
During the investigation, officers discovered that Samita Kumari was allegedly involved in a relationship with Ajit Kumar, a government technician posted in Nalanda. Police claimed the couple considered Gunjan an obstacle to their relationship. They allegedly planned his murder and hired Raju Kumar alias Dheeraj, a contract killer, to carry out the attack on the moving train. The accused reportedly confessed to their involvement during questioning.
Police Arrest Wife, Boyfriend and Contract Killer in Train Murder Case
Investigators recovered several mobile phones and SIM cards that were allegedly used to communicate and plan the murder. Police also revealed that Dheeraj has a criminal history and was previously arrested in a 2025 Arms Act case before being released on bail. Authorities are examining digital evidence and other leads to determine whether more people played a role in the conspiracy. The investigation remains underway.
The case has drawn comparisons with other recent murders allegedly linked to relationship disputes, including the Ketan Agarwal murder case in Pune. In both incidents, investigators believe the victims were targeted because they were seen as obstacles to personal relationships. Police continue to gather evidence and trace every link connected to the Bihar murder case. Officials have stated that anyone found involved in the conspiracy will face legal action.
