Bihar Bureaucrat Couple Raided: ₹1 Crore Cash, Jewellery & Luxury Watches Recovered

Vigilance officials raided properties linked to a Bihar bureaucrat couple on Monday, recovering over Rs 1 crore in cash during searches over alleged disproportionate assets.

His wife, Kumari Sweety, works as District Sub-Registrar in Danapur and also faces scrutiny. Bihar Vigilance Bureau teams conducted simultaneous searches at several properties in Patna and Begusarai districts. Officials recovered cash, jewellery, property documents, bank records, investment papers and financial transaction details. The search teams also found several luxury watches during their operation at the couple’s properties. Officials brought counting machines to the premises after discovering a large amount of cash during searches.

Vigilance Team Verifies Cash, Jewellery and Property Details Recovered During Raids

Vigilance officials carefully counted and verified the recovered cash, jewellery and other important documents. The Vigilance Department’s DIG remained present at the location and supervised the entire operation. Officials said investigators will determine the exact value of recovered cash and gold jewellery later. The department has not yet released a final statement confirming the total value of recovered assets. Officials also searched the couple’s Patna residence and their ancestral property in Begusarai. So far, investigators have reportedly recovered more than Rs 1 crore in cash. Officials also recovered jewellery and luxury watches with a combined value running into crores. Investigators recovered Rs 70 lakh in cash and 48 watches worth Rs 6 lakh from Patna. The Begusarai property yielded another Rs 9 lakh in cash along with gold and silver jewellery.

Officials also recovered documents concerning land holdings, investments and other financial interests from both locations. Investigators identified two Patna flats registered under Diwakar and his wife’s names. The flats reportedly carry a combined value of approximately Rs 1.07 crore. Officials also identified three Patna plots registered under his wife’s and father’s names. The plots reportedly carry an estimated combined value of approximately Rs 1.28 crore. The Vigilance Bureau will now examine the documents, assets and financial records recovered during searches. Investigators will compare the couple’s known income with their accumulated assets and financial transactions. Officials will determine whether the recovered properties and wealth constitute disproportionate assets after completing verification. Police may register an FIR if investigators substantiate allegations of disproportionate assets against the couple. The investigation remains underway, and officials are expected to release further details after completing scrutiny.
