A Bhopal court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of Twisha Sharma’s husband, Samarth Singh, and co-accused Giribala Singh by another 14 days in connection with the Twisha Sharma death case. Both accused will remain in judicial custody until July 14. They appeared before the court through video conferencing during the hearing. CBI Seeks Forensic Evidence to Strengthen Probe
Twisha Sharma’s family lawyer, Ankur Pandey, said the CBI sought more time to continue its investigation. According to him, the agency also asked the court to collect voice samples from Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh for forensic comparison with audio recordings recovered during the investigation. In another application, the CBI requested that Samarth Singh provide the password to his laptop. The agency informed the court that forensic experts could not access the complete data because the device remains password-protected.
Pandey further revealed that investigators are still waiting for the second post-mortem report. Twisha’s father explained that forensic experts have yet to complete several technical examinations, including DNA analysis. He said the authorities want to submit a comprehensive final report instead of releasing a preliminary one. According to him, the process is taking time because the laboratory must complete all scientific tests before issuing its findings. He expressed hope that the report would be ready soon.

Court Extends Judicial Custody Until July 14
During the hearing, the court noted that the second post-mortem report had not yet been filed. Twisha Sharma’s family also urged the court to direct Samarth Singh to provide the laptop password so investigators could complete the forensic examination. Meanwhile, Giribala Singh’s lawyer raised the issue of an alleged theft at the residence. The court recorded the submissions made by both sides while allowing the CBI additional time to continue its probe.
The case stems from the death of Twisha Sharma, a Noida resident who died at her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12. Her family has accused her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment and mental cruelty, prompting authorities to transfer the investigation to the CBI. The agency is examining the circumstances surrounding her death and the allegations made by her family. The case includes charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, as well as the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961, against the accused.
