Bengaluru Man Kills Wife, Pours Hot Oil on Her Face, Stages Death as Suicide

A 40-year-old man in Bengaluru has allegedly killed his wife following a dispute over a family matter. Police identified the accused as Ranjit, who reportedly argued with his wife, Gunja Maddheshiya, before leaving for work. He later returned home after allegedly becoming angry when she did not answer his calls. Police said the argument escalated into a violent attack.

Wife Allegedly Strangled During Dispute

According to police, Ranjit returned home around 9:30 am and confronted Gunja over the unanswered calls. Investigators allege that he attacked her and later strangled her using a dupatta. Police said the accused then left the house and went to work. The incident came to light later when he returned and attempted to present a different version of events.

Police further alleged that Ranjit returned to the house around 3 pm and poured hot cooking oil on his wife’s face. Investigators suspect he did this to disfigure her and make the incident appear different. He then reportedly left for work again. Later in the evening, he returned home and allegedly acted shocked after seeing his wife.

Police Questioned His Version of Events

Ranjit allegedly told neighbours that Gunja had died by suicide while he was at work. He reportedly gave the same account to police when officers arrived at around 8 pm. However, investigators noticed inconsistencies in his statements and began questioning him. The room owner also reportedly told police about frequent arguments between the couple.

During questioning, police said Ranjit admitted to killing his wife. Investigators said he cited frustration over her failure to answer his phone calls as the reason behind the confrontation. Police have taken the accused into custody for further investigation. The couple’s two children have reportedly been sent to stay with relatives.
