Murder Suspect Confesses in Diary Before Alleged Suicide, Police Recover Gruesome Details

Police have recovered a diary believed to belong to Mukti Ranjan Ray, the prime suspect in the brutal murder of Mahalakshmi, whose dismembered body was discovered in a fridge at her Bengaluru residence, according to PTI. The diary contains Ray’s confession to the murder.

The Odisha Police have registered a case of unnatural death after Ray was found hanging from a tree. Bengaluru Police, upon reviewing the suicide note, confirmed Ray’s involvement in the horrific crime, as per an official statement.

Earlier, News18 reported that Bengaluru Police had identified Ray, a former colleague of 29-year-old Mahalakshmi, as the key suspect. Ray was allegedly unhappy about Mahalakshmi’s relationship with another man.

Mahalakshmi, a saleswoman, was last seen at work on September 1. Her family reported her missing after her phone was turned off on September 2. Her mutilated body, cut into 59 pieces, was discovered by her mother and sister in her Vyalikaval home on September 21.

A post-mortem confirmed the dismemberment, and toxicology tests are underway to determine if she was poisoned prior to her death. Forensic teams are also analyzing fingerprints found on the refrigerator.
