Bengaluru IAF officer booked for ‘attempt to murder’ after CCTV footage of attack surfaces

A road rage incident near Bengaluru’s Tin Factory junction on April 22 has intensified, with police actively investigating the case. The conflict, which began as a traffic dispute, took a dramatic turn after CCTV footage emerged, contradicting Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose’s initial account. The footage reportedly shows the Indian Air Force officer physically assaulting a biker, prompting authorities to booked him for attempted murder. The confrontation took place early Monday morning as Bose and his wife headed to the airport.

Bose in Kolkata; Booked Under BNS, Summons Expected

Multiple reports confirm that Bose is currently in Kolkata. Bengaluru Police plan to summon him soon for questioning as part of their ongoing investigation. The Byappanahalli Police registered an FIR based on a complaint filed by the injured biker, Vikas Kumar, a call centre employee. The FIR lists serious charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 108 (abetment), 115(2) (attempt to commit an offence punishable with death or life imprisonment), 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), and 352 (assault or use of criminal force otherwise than on grave provocation).

Bose Claims Language Abuse, Shares Video After Early Morning Clash

The incident took place around 6 AM while Bose and his wife, Squadron Leader Madhumita Dutta—both DRDO officers were heading to the airport to catch a flight to Kolkata. Later, Bose uploaded a video on social media platform X, showing his bloodied face and alleging that a biker abused them for not speaking in Kannada. He claimed the biker drove recklessly, stopped in front of their vehicle, and launched an attack. In the video, Bose said, “I kept shouting and asking people, is this how Karnataka treats people from the armed forces who serve the nation?” He added that most local residents failed to intervene, except for a few senior citizens who stepped in.
